“kill myself” was the most common answer when they contemplated the possibility of life as a girl
Yeah, tell me again how misogyny “isn’t real” and men and boys actually “love”, “like” and “respect the female sex”? This is how deep misogynistic propaganda runs in this world. Men and boys are so viscerally contemptuous of anything or anyone who/that is female or feminine, or perceived to be female or feminine, that they would rather commit suicide than to be associated with— or become a member of— the female sex. As Germaine Greer said, “women have no idea how much men hate them.”
they would rather die then be treated how they treat us
Your reactions to boys saying they’d commit suicide (which is a very prevalent thing among males btw) is to reframe it as a female-centric issue?
Your first thought when faced with a boy saying he’d kill himself is to make it about women?
Really? That’s pretty damn apathetic.
Considering how most trans people who suffer from gender dysphoria tend to be suicidal, I honestly don’t see the problem with boys saying they don’t want to be girls.
In fact, I find it to be the healthy response.
I wanna know when this was taken because the girls are acting like they couldn’t be those things without a penis. This feels like it’s from the 1960s making the “misogynist society” spiel even more out of context.
This experiment is interesting. Girls become that which b they could always be, while boys…..hmmmmm. why would they kill themselves? Maybe it’s waking up one day and realizing their body will never be their v again.
I still don’t see why girls would think the need a penis to be firemen. These are junior high school students! There is no fucking way all of them don’t know girls can be firemen and doctors.
How fucking old is this survey? Where is the context? And why are the first commenters acting like this is still a prevalent outlook on life at this time? This is a textbook example of people excluding information to persuade people.
the quote was from a book published in 1968, and again in 1974. the ‘recent survey’ was before 1968.
Now the answer would probably be “play with my boobs”.
This is more of a split answer, as it really depends on how someone identifies themselves. For someone who believes in themselves and knows what they want, a fundamental change in identity would destroy those lives. But for society today, where people are equally as open minded as they are depressed on average, I think more guys would enjoy their new experiences rather than end their lives. Asking a teenage boy in that era of influence the answer would be obvious, not only because of the culture at the time, but also because of social ostracizing that would result from deviating from the expected answer.
